Organizer: John Killan
Join us for a hands-on Crevasse Rescue Review and Practice designed to get adventure Mountain Club members confident and dialed before heading into glaciated terrain. We’ll cover core rescue systems, refresh essential skills, and practice real-world problem solving—all in a supportive, low-pressure setting.
This 2-hour, in-town session is focused on participation, teamwork, and learning by doing. Expect rope work, hauling systems, and plenty of chances to ask questions and try things out. We’ll keep it engaging and fun, with scenarios that challenge your thinking without taking ourselves too seriously. Expect rope tangles, “aha” moments, teamwork, and a few laughs along the way.
Bring the Goods:
Harness
Warm clothes (we’ll be in the snow )
Prusiks, cordelettes, carabiners, pulleys—whatever you’d use in a real rescue
A good attitude and willingness to try things
Perfect for refreshing rusty skills, learning new tricks, or just getting outside with fellow Mountain Club members. This is not a course, but a practice night for those who have taken training and have knowledge of the subject.
Date and location may change pending on the weather.
