All participants will be waitlisted first and added to the trip once fitness suitability and payment have been verified. While there is a beginner classification rating on this trip, you must have a minimum fitness level to attend. The distance to Jacque Lake is 12km one way, as we will need to arrive on a Friday evening, some distance will be covered during the later evening. All participants will be expected to sign up for and attend the ‘ Packing for a Trip’ meet up at Alfred Savage Center the Wednesday evening before the trip, June 25.

Activity Type: Backcountry Hiking, Overnight Backpacking.

Difficulty Rating: Beginner, Intermediate

Itinerary: Let’s have a fun weekend enjoying the spectacular scenery hiking into Jacque Lake. Parking at the South End of Medicine Lake, we will travel along a mostly gentle, flat trail , 12 km to our campsite at the east end of Jacque Lake. Expect elevation gain of 90 meters. Arriving on Friday evening, we will set up camp and likely sleep soon after. Saturday’s plan will be to explore the trail to Merlin pass to the north of Jacque lake. 10 km to the pass, should provide a suitable days hike to explore a seldom used trail. If the trail is overgrown, we will adjust plans as required. Saturday supper will be a shared event, with tent mates sharing food duties. Sunday will be our pack up and depart day, likely by noon to facilitate the return trail and drive home.

Prerequisites / Courses Required: This is an all conditions trip, you must be prepared for unsettled weather. The trip leader will coordinate tent and car pool logistics. A What’s App channel will be created for the participants ease of coordinating.

Required items to bring: Tent to share, sleeping bag, shared stove among your tent, necessary clothes for 2 nights in the backcountry, shared food for 1 supper among your tent, 2 lunches and breakfasts for yourself.

As per club guidelines, participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation.
